Happy New Year!!!
I have been wanting to post for a while, but I guess I haven't been wanting it enough.
So a lot of things have been happening for me over the last few weeks with the holidays and all, but it's nothing overly exciting.
For the month of December I raised my hours at work to 24 hours each week. A friend of mine was laid off at the end of November, and she was willing to watch our angel in the afternoons for us. Cha Ching in the bank, but stressful on me. Well, I say cha ching in the bank, but it went out for holiday presents and bills about as quickly as it came in. But at least we didn't add to the credit card debt.
Christmas went well. We celebrated Christmas Eve with my LARGE family at my aunt's house. I like it that we see everyone in one place and don't have to drive everywhere, but my hubby on the other hand doesn't handle the large crowd that is my extended family quite as well as those of us who have had our entire lives to get used to it. He was a trooper though. Christmas day we woke up, opened a TON of gifts for our little angel. Took a Break for Breakfast and then opened a TON more gifts for her... (I failed to mention that I went a little overboard on gifts for her.) We took a nap in the afternoon and then we went to visit my brother in law. He was alone for Christmas this year, so we took him out to hibachi for dinner. I spent the day after Christmad Cleaning like a MAD woman. It was nice to have the Hubby home.
We rang in 2009 with a bunch of our fellow freaks at Draculas Ball in Philly. It was a grand time, and even though a good number of my friends were unable to make it this time around, we still found a reasonable sized crowd of people to catch up with. Our little angel rang in 2009 at a friend's house. We thought she would be asleep long before the ball dropped, but when we picked her up at 1:30 am, we were told she had JUST fallen asleep. What can i say, she's a night owl like her mommy.
I took 2 trips to South Street with some friends, did some shopping, nothing too major, and remember why I love and hate Philly all at once. I got a really cute hat, a nice necklace/earring set and some other assorted mini items. One day we brought the teenage girls boyfriend along. I forgot how annoying and clingy 16 year olds in "love" can be. And I'm not going to try to deny that I was like that. I'm sure I was. Everything is so new and intense. The hormones were almost VISIBLE though... It was scary.
Do I have any resolutions you may ask? Well, no. I find that if I make a resolution, I am very likely to break it very early on. Most of my "resolutions" are too nebulous of ideas to give them quantitative goals anyway. I think I'll say instead that I have intentions for 2009. We'll see how that works.
This year I intend to:
Spend time with my angel
See the bright side of things
Prioritize and organize
PURGE
Work toward a healthier me
Socialize
Return (and make) Phone calls (sorry everyone that I've been so lax)
Take time for myself
So far, I have found that I have been able to maintain most of the cleaning that I had done in the last month, and I have been making daily improvements in small increments. I have also been more active, and trying to get out of the house more. I have definitely been more social. We're even planning to get out to another club night on Saturday. Now I have to find how to make time for myself without cutting into my sleep. Speaking of sleep...
I'm off to dreamland. Hopefully I'll post more soon.
