I'll post something serious for once.

Got a phone call yesterday from Mike Ellerbrock telling me my old friend Mike Cifuentes was killed in Iraq yesterday. The all-knowing and always-accurate internuts confirmed this information. From the article:

I was just going to post all of this myself, just got the letter from X, wasn't sure you heard.

Don't forget we called him "Blue Blocker" too. (he proudly wore his blue blockers - even after he got the name, you gotta hand it to the guy) That guy got teased why more than his due.

I new Kreuter, he was in my class, and homeroom - thanks to the alphabet, and some of my classes. He was a good guy. The letter from X says that he has a 7 week old son he has never, nor will never, now, meet.

It doesn't really hit home until - well it's someone you know.

Man, I TOTALLY forgot about Blue Blocker. Since there were SIX mike's in our section Senior year, I just called him Cifuentes (everyone by last name, you know). I never liked patronizing the underclassmen.

And I never did figure out why the hell he wore those AWFUL LOOKING THINGS. I think I once told him that "seeing you in those sunglasses gives me a headache, they're so ugly".

man, I forgot about the "Blue Blocker" name as well.

I remember being at school with both of those guys. I used to drive Mike home from band practice since we both lived in Fairfield.

So sad to lose two members of the X community at the same time like this.

Lance Corporal Mike "Blue Blockers" Cifuentes also had a special place in my heart. He was the first guy I ever taught to be a lacrosse goalie. He backed up Mark Laemle(sp?) for 2 years.

Fuck this war. Amen, amen.

OH DAMN I totally forgot about Laemle. I really liked that kid too, even though I sure gave him a lot of shit...
