I don't think it makes sense to expect our generation to grow out of playing all video games. Our parents didn't grow out of watching movies, or at least, mine didn't. They might have grown out of things like collecting baseball cards or playing tag, but such a comparison isn't really valid, because video games span the distance between simple games and complex cinema.

If they put aside the physical activities they enjoyed in their youth (for them, baseball; for us, DDR), then I think that was a mistake on their part.

Yes Jordan you are addicted...Everyone is addicted to their own little thing, though...And anyone who tells you otherwise is a filthy liar...Your brother is more in the paper age because legal documents are still almost exclusively on paper ,rather than online...The older and more in depth you want to research, the more you have to move out of the digital age...If you can control your addiction, then you are in control of your life and don't need to worry so much...However, if you KNOW you have things to do but play games in lieu of doing them, then you have a problem...otherwise keep up the status quo

yes, well, mayhap you are a bit addicted to these things, but not in a "serious" sense. you like these things, you do them a lot; they are your interests. if you didn't have interests you wouldn't be interesting, as i see it. and as to antisociality...i don't know that you are antisocial if you only talk to "gamer geeks." i'd say that you're specialized. me, however? i'm a total fucking dork on all sorts of levels of dorkdom (though it gives me lots to talk about!), and afraid of most people, so i'm antisocial, i guess, but it doesn't make you all weird and antisocial just because you associate with me; we have friends and interests in common. don't worry about it so much. the doctor is an old man; he may be a great doctor but some things just don't apply. if you were letting gaming take over your life utterly to the point of not eating or sleeping (i've done that..) or doing anything else, then it would be a problem, but currently, you're ok, and you do not need to "seek help." and i think in 10 years, we'll just be older, still- ( ... )

Let's put things in perspective - at least you're not sniffing glue. *nods gravely* Being addicted to things like these isn't necesarily a _bad_ thing. In fact, it makes you a more interesting person. I hope I always have the things i'm addicted to...anime, old nintendo, fritos. In fact... i'll stick anyone who tries to take these things away from me with a freakin' scimitar!!! *glares* So go out there and be free! Practice your inner addictions! Throw off the shackels of society!!!
