What brought you to it?? what made you stay??
First time around, I barely registered any of the Maxis hoods. I had just migrated from the PS2 version of the Sims (and Sims 2, but the PS2 version of that is pretty lame in a lot of ways). *snerk* ". . .the Grunts were assholes. . ." I've had similar feelings at times. I really don't like the way Maxis set up their story. Ok, I like the family dynamic but I don't like how it kind of directs players to instantly dislike Buzz (and as a result, Tank) and gravitate to Ripp (the poor little misunderstood son). It's not a bad story but it's a little too "Lifetime" for me. I think that's what makes me automatically gravitate to Buzz, to see what his REAL story is (not just the melodrama Maxis gave him). And when I start examining Buzz, it leads to examining Buck (since Buzz and Buck get left together in the house when the older kids leave

Haha, now I almost wish I had Pets just so I could see the obnoxious customers get sprayed by skunks. That's not something you can control, even with a hack, is it?

I've never laughed at your neighborhood aerial views. Seriously, until you mentioned that just now, I never even noticed they were all boxes. :P I do use the roofs a fair amount, but it depends on how I feel about the "aesthetics" of the particular box I'm building at the moment. Some boxes do just get a floor for a roof.

I'm pretty sure the skunk thing (with NPC's on the lot) is completely autonimous. You can make your controllable sims pet them, though. (and with FT, the skunks seem to come around a lot more--especially when you send sims on a hike)

The flat roof houses are really noticable in Nocheat and Feo. Peculiar has a lot of cloned maxis houses in it (and I try to keep real roofs on them).

So grab an obnoxious customer with the Insimenator and make him or her pet the skunk? eh hehe

I've always wondered about the Strangetown Bella being so young, too. It just doesn't make sense, unless you "pretend" there was some kind of time jump/wormhole/space thing involved.
