totally agree! unresolved tension only works for so long and then viewers want "their" couple to be finally happy.

For me the best example is Lorelai/Luke in Gilmore Girls, maaaan, they screwed that one up SO bad. *sighs* Up until S5 (some eps of 6 included) everything was fine..there were ups and downs but everyone knew that they must end up together...and when that was about to happen, writers brought in Piss-offf...ähm Christopher again (AGAIN-AGAIN?!) and a never before seen daughter of Luke ("oh we need another plotline for Luke if we want to break him and Lorelai up...oh, I know...he'll have a daughter from someone the audience has never seen before, well, they've seen the actress but she'll have a different part now, cool, eh?!" *head desk*)
...and then everything went downhill :'(
