I approve of the cat cage (or whatever it's called). My friends built a fence around their balcony so they could let their cat out without risks of him running away. He never goes very far, mostly bolts outside and then realizes he's scared and finds a place to hide. It allowed him to go out safely and it had the bonus of helping him get used to being outside.
Freddy needs to be kept inside for a couple of weeks at least, so we have a little time to get the cat run sorted, but I really doubt he's afraid of the outside, being an outdoor rescue and all. ^^
Don't worry about it. It's a difficult name for non-Danes. :) He's been semi-renamed to Frederik, but Freddy is still the best version to use online. :)
And he's such a super lovely kitty. Today I was home alone from 11AM to 4PM, so I got a few things done and then went up to bed and watched some TV etc and he stayed with me, just sleeping by my side from 12PM to 7PM (I was napping by the time the kids and Maz came home and ended up even eating up there by myself). He was a very cuddly and faithful kitty and didn't leave until Snuffles came barging towards him with full speed ahead at the kids' bed time.
I used to think about getting a cat (well, before I found out I was allergic), but I can barely take care of myself some days. Lol. Most of my friends have kitties, though, and I get to enjoy them a little when I visit them.
Nawww! He is so cute! I love tabbies, they are known though for being a bit feisty though, so I'm not surprised you got scratches etc. as most don't like being held/picked up (from the ones I've met).
I'm sorry to hear about Modem though, I know exactly how you feel though, I wont share since I understand how upsetting it is to lose a pet(s) in such a terrible way, since two tragic things have occurred for our two cats :( (we only have one now and the bunnies)
Much love to you and hope Freddy livens up your life and gets better from his cold! :D
