steve, i know how you are feeling. it does suck but you can always think of it as a long vacation and just treasure your moments you make in england, to only come back here and share them with us. and im really happy that you and julia are still together even though you two are over sea's, that really says something about your relationship with her. well, i'll just talk to you later buddy

ps. i was just listening to that song as i was reading your post, what a coincidence.
It's undertandable - I was thinking similar things before going off to school (I started comforting myself at the end by saying, 'Well, if I don't like it there and get really depressed, I can always transfer to U of C.'). But still, I think that once you get to school, you'll find people you can bond with and things will pick up, even if it's not quite the same as it is back home. For me, I'm having a good time and really enjoying the Cambridge area (I haven't been into Boston yet), but I still know that I'll be coming back to Chicago after I'm done for school. I try to think of it like this: as hard as it is, this is your time to be on your own and grow on your own, and then, when you're back where you want to be, you'll all be more complete people and have even more to offer each other than before.
So... if you're depressed at Harvard you're going to transfer to UChicago? Pat, perhaps you haven't spent enough time in Hyde Park or met enough UofC kids to understand that UofC is depression. Transfer to UIUC to make yourself happy, not UChicago.
Hey. Sorry to hear you're feeling down. I felt the same way about Naperville the first few days when I went to school. Although I still miss it, I've adjusted to my new life. I have no doubt that you'll make new friends at college and will forget all about us nerdy napervillians ;) P.S. We'll all start to plan the biggest welcome home party the world has ever seen for three years from now.
