We're talking about the company that forced sony to block the guitar hero/rock band instrument compatibility patch until EA/harmonix paid them extortion money. Nothing they do is going to be inconsistent with the tactics of an almost saturday morning cartoon style evil corporation, particularly when it comes to hurting EA.
When my roommate bought GH3 for 360, it came with the GH2 Xplorer instead of the GH3 Les Paul. Also I had the game on 360 so the compatibility patch didn't really affect me. That explains why I continually forget about it, though.
But yeah, and the defense of "Well it's our third party peripheral, we should decide what can use it," I felt was horseshit. I remember being confused with Sony's stance on the whole thing, honestly. I'd think they would care more about the customer base who gives them money than the developer trying to cash in on ridiculous grounds.
