I would like to have both computers running anyways. This would allow for me to seperate some of the things I would like to do.

On my new computer, I want to install Windows XP pro again because I don't want Vista although it might be cool to play with it using VMWare Workstation like you were talking about. Maybe I will play around with those operating systems on my old computer and stick with XP on the new because for me XP has been stable and it works well for doing development work, etc. I don't want a operating system that is slowing any of my work down like I have heard Vista can.

I planned on running Ubuntu on either my desktop or laptop, but have yet to do so. I've heard about running VMWare, but, truth be told, screwing around with a new operating system is not something on the top of my list right now.

It's a shame, really, cuz I like the idea of exploring the wide world of Open Source, but I don't have time to make backups and deal with the hassles of switching things over. Maybe if a computer with Ubuntu already installed dropped into my lap, where I would have no responsibility to existing data...maybe that'd open the gate to further interest.
