Oh, great job! I'm so pleased you chose this prompt -- I absolutely adore Pam and am so curious about her as a character. I think my favorite moment, actually, was the one with her and Jesse, when he calls her cheap and tries to smooth it over... it just rang so true and real and was so upsetting. Great case, too, and a beautiful finish. Thanks so much!

I'm really glad to you liked it. There was so much freedom to play, which I suppose is the advantage (and disadvantage) as a fan of the character! I developed a much better appreciation for Pam as I wrote, too. She's a pretty awesome woman.

This format for this piece was an experiment in writing for me, so hearing it called intricate a really lovely bit of feedback. Thank you! I'm glad you liked the piece.

I've had this open in a tab for ages, but I'm so glad I didn't get the chance to read it before now because it was the perfect thing to read tonight. I'm really in love with the way you've written Pamela with such power and competence. She's such a fabulous character, and you've really done a great job illustrating some of her backstory.

Her sense of the world expands with her and she can see traces of magic, see the strength in the cold iron of the pickaxe and in the salt saturating the earth they’ve dug up. The ending was lovely, and this line in particular was just perfect.

(And just a small typo: like an elastic band cut while taught should be taut.)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to give Pamela a chance to be a strong in her own right.

Fixing the typo now, thanks!

EEEEEE! OMG, PAM! PAM FIC! *flails*

This is so awesome, omg. Pam is badass and strong but vulnerable and human and just lovely. And the flashbacks are great, show what kind of girl Pam was, how she became this way. I think my favorite was the one to Pam as a kid playing with an Ouija board, it was awesome. Really well written. So much <3 for this!
