Rental DVDs suck ass. If you don't get them when they're brand new, they're magically scratched all to hell. I wonder if there are any idiots out there who actually buy ex-rental DVDs... other than techno nerds who know how to rip scratched discs.
I talk to myself a lot when I'm alone for extended periods. I also get quite rude with the television. The latest object of my ire is a governmental TV ad campaign against violence to women. That one really gets me riled.
lol at the vision of your getting "quite rude" verbally with the television. i have a friend who does that. hmmm, come to think of it, i do too on occasion ...
aki, i have this weird paranoia about rental DVDs after having similar experiences. i don't want one of them to break my DVD player. i know logically this is impossible, but whoever said i was logical? ;-p so i don't rent them.
here in the states we have a company called Netflix that rents out DVDs by mail. don't know if anyone here has tried them. they have free shipping and a flat fee for as many DVDs as you can rent for $22. but i don't know if they are in canada. :p
The worst thing is that the ad campaign tagline is "Violence against women? Australia says no!". It flips me out when people presume to talk for me like that and it makes me want to ring the hotline to say that my girlfriend beats me up then ask if that's ok since I'm not a woman.
I wonder if those things actually accomplish what they set out to do. I doubt any fuck who beats his wife or girlfriend is going to be paying much attention to it.
Except that my girlfriend's family has the no late-fee blockbuster thing. It's a flat fee so that if the DVD is scratched (which they are at that location about 80% of the time), there's no way to compensate the customer if the DVD is scratched. "Here, have another for free." Gah.
I think the DVDs are heat damaged more than scratched, though, because often there appears to be NO scratching or grime on the surface but the DVD still doesn't play well. People probably left it in their car in the sun, those bitches.

Always nice to meet new local people. I just scanned through some of your entries and you seem pretty cool too.
Most of my entries are friends only, the unlocked ones are unlocked because I forgot to lock them. There's some weird crap in there, but feel free.
