An Idea is always fun until someone gets hurt....this is crazier than most

I'm not one of those people who likes to post a lot about themselves on a journal that everyone can read. It's just my personality. I never say more than I have to and I tend to feel silly in writing journals because it feels like I'm talking to myself, which always seemed redundant to me ( Read more... )

It would be more or less a periodical fanzine/doujinshi, but just online instead of on paper, right? ^^;

While it is an interesting idea, it's really difficult to make it come true in practice, especially when it needs submissions from various people, and even more so in a fandom that is, after all, pretty small. ^^; (Compared to shonen manga fandoms etc.)

The extreme rarity of VK doujinshi even in Japan is a good example of it. ^^;
(And that's with people doing all their own stuff, which is always easier to organize. Counting on submissions by other people instead always complicates the whole process.)I'd also say that PDF format and doing all the page layout and all in high quality and downloadable etc. opens you to the risk that dishonest people might grab it all, print it and sell it, but then, that's always a danger of that anyway ( ... )

No I prefer honesty, and I was aware that the vast majority was printed online. It was just an idea....a crazy little idea too.

It was one of those things that would take a whole heck of a lot of my time. But I thought that people might enjoy it. It would give many people the chance to go through a real submission and editing process (which is fraught with peril if people don't submit or respond to anything I comment on in the editing process.).

And the fandom isn't really as small as you might think...at least from what I've seen on DA and FF.net. I wasn't planning this thing to be all that big, which is one of the reasons I was limiting it to a single fandom. I certainly wasn't looking forward to the bigger fandoms.

But as I said, at the moment it was just an idea. If it's not something people would really go for, I'll just figure out some other way to try my hand at it.

Of course as a personal project to work on editing and all, it would always be fun ( ... )

I will agree that VK is not as big as some. I was merely pointing out that it wasn't "small ( ... )

I wasn't at all surprised that doujins are rare for this series. It's one of the more detailed and its shoujo...so, it's not likely to get a lot of people who are willing to spend that much time and money putting them out. Between that and there's not much incentive to put one out when someone will turn around and sell it for a profit on ebay. Pirating is everywhere...unfortunately.

I do have a few tricks up my sleeve as far as preventing unnecessary printings. And I was open to professionally printing it if enough people were willing to buy it, but the higher quality the print job is the more it will cost. One of the fun parts about having been trained on a serial publication is that I got to hear how much it costs when it comes to size and color and paper and shipping...so, yeah, it's an option, but it's a big maybeI think what a lot of people tend to be worried about with something like this is that I'll let my pairing or character bias get in the way...or at least, I thought they might. Unfortunately I'm not that way when I'm in ( ... )
