Lol.. yeah super wow, I've updated twice in a row *gasp*
Just wondering, what do you people think is a reasonable amount of pocket money per week for students such as yourselves? And I mean reasonableReason why I ask is I just want to clarify some stuff for myself. I'm not sure if what I am thinking is out of tightness or selfishness.. whichever it ( Read more... )

I can think of a number of things that brought about this 'chain-of-thought'. Well, I think the amount you currently get is enough. ^^;

It just depends if extra spending is covered. You know... is it 'luxury cash' or what. I used to know a kid who got $100 (I just remember the 'concept' >>;) a week, but their parents gave them nothing. They didn't buy clothes for them, pay for excursions, no bus money or lunch food. So .__.

I'm frugal AS - and I admit it. Tight. XD But yea. I think life as a university student requires quite a bit. I realised presents I buy for friends get bigger and bigger as I get older. Kinda like a requirement D: I miss the good old days when $5 or $10 was enough (laughs). If I didn't have a job... I don't think I'd be able to eat as many potatocakes ;o;

That remeinds me... I must go bank to deposit my savings ^^~

Yeah all that has been considered. 'Luxury cash' etc. Nowadays I don't think presents at $5 - $10 is enough even as a little kid. I see my cousins and all the presents they get for their little friends are around $20 - $30. It's the economy I tell you! Making us all poor .___.

depends on the age... you talking about your sibs?

if they need money for food then fine but if this is like luxury cash as wynne put it... then i say anything under $20. *shrugs* there is an age when they can work if they want more money, if they don't appreciate free cash then they shouldn't get any.

sorry to say but i hate it when people complain that they don't get enough allowance. pisses me off. how hard you're guardian/parents have to work to support you and you take it all for granted. if you want more money then go work.

i think once you hit uni, you should pay for everything yourself. only if you really desperately can't should you even remotely think about asking your parents. i know they are happy too but meh. you're an adult. take responsibility.

sorry that was a bit crude.

Yeah sibs who else haha.

Yeah I understand all that, partly why I'm a little frustrated as well. But that's all due to upbringing. If a parent tells you, you don't have to work and I'll support you etc. They'll grow up believing that.

Hehe... I don't pay for much myself *sweatdrop* And I get luxury cash to buy lunch etc. I feel so spoilt T_T;

sometimes, people need a blunt wakeup call. mean but true...
no use in spoonfeeding you, because you'll never really be independant. i find it amusing people who are 25+ and haven't moved out because they want to freeload some more. *shrugs*

haha, i pay for everything. i've no allowance anyway. that's hy i work... but i think i might lose my job. :(

I agree with the two people above. Look i don't work but that doesn't mean i shouldn't be. Cos i really SHOULD be working. hmm I get about $200 a month. Which $80 goes to my bus ticket. I also pay my own phone bill $25-60, food and other things (amenities, recreation, pressies etc etc). Having said that though, if i bring food from home i don't need to pay but I rarely make the time to make my own lunch... So not a lot, but i make do cos i'm pretty low maintenance and i don't have much to spend money on.

Yeah I understand what you're saying. I get around the same as you but mine is luxury cash... I don't pay for anything other than food and prezzies, leisure stuff. So I do save alot.

Feels small for being spoilt

hehe hey i'm not saying i wouldn't want more too but i don't really need it, and if i do i should get a job. Yeah i agree that pressies are more expensive but that's usually fine with me. I'm rarely invited to birthdays and stuff anyways so i'm happy to spend 20-40 or more depending on who the person is (been to about four this year). If i'm invited and don't really know them, i might just get them a drink or something. But if you always have birthdays then reducing the cost is understandable. Personally i don't think people need to get me pressies anyways, unless they want to. So they don't :P Then again i havn't really had any celebrations in the past anyway. hehe i'm a bitter bitter man...

Lol more is good I guess haha, but for me it's about control for siblings. Any normal human being wouldn't mind the extra cash but when I have to consider all the other factors in, its a different story ^^;

Even if I don't get invited to bday parties, if they're my friend and I actually remember I would get them a present anyway. You no get prezzies? :O Everyone should get a prezzie on bday! But then again even a simple msg to say Happy Bday is enough, shows they actually cared enough to remember. So no bitter bitter man *chucks sugar at you*
