Akihiko had gotten really good at world-hopping by using the TV world by now, but as he climbed out through his television into his apartment, he caught his foot a bit and went into a sprawl on his living room floor

Akihiko grinned and caught his friend's hand in a casual, easy way as they headed for the bathroom. He was, perhaps subconsciously, Not Thinking about the ramifications of Shinji being at the love hotel that night. He trusted Shinji and knew that if he was doing that kind of thing, it wasn't just for some stupid reason, but because he needed the money.
And he couldn't really think about that, because it made his chest ache so hard. Getting jealous was an afterthought that hadn't even made it to the conscious part of his brain yet.
"I can't wait to get to bed," he groaned, twisting the knobs on his shower. "I feel like I've been awake for a week solid - oh wait, I have."
Shinjiro certainly didn't expect pity or sympathy from Akihiko, as much as he trusted his friend. He expected anger. He thought he knew how the world worked, and how this sort of relationship was supposed to work, and thought what he did was a deal-breaker. Or, at the very least, thought Aki deserved better. It didn't stop him from curling his fingers around his friend's hand when it was taken, or watching him from the shadow of his bangs as he turned on the water

Akihiko was a little surprised by the hug, and he had only started to squeeze back when Shinjiro released him. He grinned up at his friend, reddening a little at the kiss and all. It had just been such a strange, affectionate gesture coming from Shinji, that it put him a bit off-balance.
"Yeah, been there and done that," he admitted, chuckling.
He pulled back to start pulling off his clothes, grimacing as they peeled away from his sweaty skin. "You okay?" he asked, not looking at Shinji, giving him the space he might need to be honest.
Stripping down quickly, bone-tired but eager to get clean and into bed, Shinjiro paused when Akihiko asked the question. It was so easy to claim he was fine. All week he would pretend he didn't need any help. That was the usual thing to do. But they were alone, and this was Aki, and maybe he was just too plain exhausted to bullshit. He continued shucking off his clothes as he spoke

Akihiko hesitated, then dropped his shirt to the floor and stepped close again, wrapping his arms around Shinji and pressing his cheek against his best friend's chest.
"Yeah, it's not easy," he agreed. "But if it makes you feel any better, it was never quite this intense in Tartarus. We always had more time to rest and recharge." He looked up. "And you didn't lose control this week."
