Character Information:
Full Name: Hugh
Series Taken From: Fire Emblem: Fuuin No Tsurugi

Power Retained: Hugh wields 'anima' magic. In his canon, there are three kinds of magic: light, dark, and anima. With his type, he has the ability to use fire, thunder, and wind tomes.

So, his one power would be the ability to use anima magic-- I'll go with fire, meaning he'll also have a fire tome with him, since it's tied in with his power.

Background: Not much is known regarding Hugh's background, aside from the fact that he was raised by his aging grandmother following the death of his parents when they attempted to stop a snowstorm. His grandmother was always a bit harsh on him, insisting that he learn how to use dark magic, instead of anima, something she regarded as 'below him'. She expressed her distaste quite verbally, even causing her grandson to claim he resented the way she raised him, but in truth, the two were closer than it seemed on the surface.

Still, he isn't exactly used to being cared for. Effectively, he grew up parentless.

Hugh himself ended up on the flippant side- vain, self-interested, and a bit lazy (stupid as well, if you take a certain somebody's word for it). Those traits didn't reflect his true character, but it certainly attributed to the first impression many got. In reality, his ego doesn't blind him as much as one would think. He can be considerate, sympathetic, and reliable.

Eventually, he left and ended up traveling as a mercenary, always one to keep an eye out for good opportunities. During that time, he acquired a reputation as a 'moneylender'-- and perhaps something of a lady's man, as well. He also traveled with a promising young shaman named Rei for a while before the boy fled in the middle of the night with the valuable dark tome Hugh's grandmother had entrusted to him. Oddly, however, he had a soft spot for the boy's situation (he had been an orphan, much like Hugh), so the theft didn't bother him too greatly.

Later, the theft of the tome angered Niime, his grandmother-- although she did remark once Hugh was out of earshot that he was just like his father; A man with a kind heart, whom tried unsuccessfully to act mean (as well as repeating her disappointment in his choice of magic). She then revealed to Hugh that he got his talent for anima magic from his mother's side, a fact he had previously been unaware of.

This all happened following his 'recruitment' into an army led by Roy of Pherae. He was paid generously for the job, though the details of the war itself weren't common knowledge, aside from the fact that the country of Bern appeared to be trying to take over the entire continent of Lycia.

It was a few weeks after joining that he received the letter and decided to take a short detour and investigate a certain house on the hills.

Sample Third-Person Post:
Okay, now that he was here, Hugh was having some serious second thoughts. It might have started with the door locking behind him, or it might have started even earlier-- like when he realized that he didn't recognize any of the landmarks. This place had an atmosphere that would have made the old cretin's attitude seem welcoming.

Wistfully, he gave the door another try. It didn't even surprise him when it wouldn't open. Still, since he was here, where was the harm in looking around?

"Hey...?"

No reply.

He made for the nearest staircase. If he didn't find anything soon, he'd just try taking out the door. No reason to let some house worry him this much, right?

Sample First-Person Post: Fifty thousand, huh? H...hehe... They won't notice if I'm gone for a few days. Well-- I'm sure one of them will notice that my handsome face has vanished from the picture, but if I make it quick...

Fifty thousand! Now where was this place?
