i just got done watching the movie 'blue crush'. it's a surfer movie with girls that surf being the focus. i've been watching quite a few surfer movies lately and was pretty stoked to check this one out, but after watching it i'm pretty sure that women were set back a few generations. here's a break down of the breakdown of strong women in films ( Read more... )

i remember that movie. it came out when i was in middle school. all i can recollect getting out of watching it was low self-esteem & a willpower to become skinny & tan. little did i know, i already was skinny. watching videos of myself from then is like watching a different person. i always tried to make myself puke, but gagging myself wasn't in my book of glamourous things to participate in. i did get made fun of for being bulimic throughout middle school though, cos when i would get those intense ass, hormone driven periods i get, i would end up in the bathroom puking for long periods of time...which resulted in people noticing & rumors spreading. middle school is cool. wanna go back?

as much as i thought school sucked when i was in it, there were plenty of times that school was good. it definitely shaped who i am today. i remember there was a kid in my middle school, i think in fifth or sixth grade that would go into the bathroom quite often and make himself throw up. he would say that it was so that he'd get sent home sick, but now i'm wondering if it was something else all together.

yeah I've noticed that too. it seems like hollywood thinks that the only way for a women to have a happy ending is to find a man.

which is, yet, another hollywood scam. except for under a tuscan sun. she didn't hook up in the end with that dude, dud she? i think they just did it. either that or i'm just blocking the end out because i'd like to think that she moved into that sweet ass house and rocked it.
