I like Scorsese a lot, but...he ain't Kurosawa.

And Leo DiCaprio in Mifune's role? He's a lot better than people give him credit for, he really ain't Mifune.

There's also a planned remake of Ikiru for next year. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425599/

Not sure if that's been posted here before or not...

I think directors are on a quest to remake every one of Kurosawa's films. :)

Is Drunken Angel for sale anywhere (for Region 1 DVD and/or NTSC VHS)?

Scorsese, IMO, has been on a spiral down since Goodfellas - his last genuine and brilliant film. At this stage of his career he should not be allowed near an AK film.

i'm so glad hollywood agreed with you at this year's oscars. aviator didn't even deserve to be nominated for best picture... if it had won, i would've lost it.

imdb.com's Movie Connections page for the upcoming Scorsese/DiCaprio collaboration. Seems like they're remaking another movie instead.

True nightmare material: Michael Bay remakes Tokyo Story! (Kidding! Kidding!)
