A Musical Entry, and Don't You Try to Say Otherwise

This past April, ACT sent me to observe classes in Oklahoma City, and I came back with a banjo. To be precise, a practical banjo. I already owned one instrument, which I've had since college. It's a top-of-the-line Alvarez; gorgeous but with a solid wood resonator and a lot of brass, and that sucker is about ten pounds heavy, which is a burden

I think the scariest thing I have read in a long time is, "Nothing says 'Renaissance Festival' like a banjo." The fear I feel right now is going to have to be channeled into my online Deadlands game tonight.

Well, he's drawn a lot of covers for Mel Bay.

I'd like to note that I will never have a freak accident with a chainsaw. If I have an accident with a chainsaw, as in, it was running, and I had been holding it, and I cut off some part of my body, that's exactly as predicted, and will not be freakish at all.

Now, if a white-hot chainsaw falls out of a helicopter and lands on my leg, that I'll be willing to chalk up to freakishness. I wouldn't see that coming.

Come to think of it, it looks like he did some work for the rededication of the local Newman Center in Iowa City as well.

The full title is "You Can Teach Yourself To Play Banjo, But It Will Be A Lot Easier If You Buy Our Book."

When I read that it was called "You Can Teach Yourself Banjo," I assumed it was one of those blank books. =i)
