I got to where I am today, career-wise, by burying my dreams and picking whatever job was available to me. I "faked it until I made it" and eventually got to enjoy the job that I never thought I'd ever be doing, or wanted to do

Enn here! Not that you'll see this reply to a 2-year-old-posting, but wimmin aint worth it! Live for yourself; it's easier and more rewarding. That saying about 'people who need people, is true, but I feel sorry for them, for they'll inevitably be disappointed. Pets are a much better bet!
