For the performance at the 919noise showcase, I built an instrument based on a cross between a guitar, a kalimba, and a spring reverb tank.

I thought it sounded fine from out in the audience. And that venue isn't terribly optimal for low noise floors and wide dynamics IMO. But I'd be interested in hearing how noise floor reduction mods change the use of the instrument.
