You get a snow day and today I have to send Rorie to school. I believe we have a bigger leway for calling in snow days here. If I remember correctly it's more like 5 or more. But I don't think they ever do make up days.

We get another "snow day" due to icy roads and high winds. West high school now has had 3 snow days- they had missed a day earlier because of another power outage affecting only that school. They will have to make that day up due to state regulations. So they have TWO days built into the schedule- of course it has been years since they have missed days - even Eagle River having NO buses due to a fire did not stop the school district from having school. They just told us to expect a madhouse at pickup and drop off points at the try and car pool.

They haven't decided

"This is the second day of district-wide school closures this calendar year, and the third closure day for West High School. Due to state requirements, West High School students will need to make up the school day later in the year. Students, families, and staff will be notified of the adjustment to the school calendar as soon as the make-up day has been determined."

They have some in service days that they can use or if they get to many of them they will extend the school year. One year they added 15 minutes to the school day to make up the missing time. They had mentioned Saturday school that year but most parents said "Go for it- I'll just keep Jr home". So they extended the school day :)
