Summary: During middle school, Nino rejected a confession from his underclassman for a very trivial reason - “I don’t date someone shorted than me”. What will happen when they see each other after 3 years.
Act 2 Milk
Whistle
The practice had just ended; some players got up and helped with the cleaning, while the starting players - mostly composed of third years including Nino - stayed with the coach for a few more reminders.
Man, I’m tired. Nagase-san sure likes to talk a lot. Nino thought, he really wanted to try stretching his aching muscle already but he might be asked to stay and be lectured - that he didn’t want.
After a good half hour, they were finally got dismissed. He showered and went straight home, his best friend Aiba was on a date with Becky, whom they met in their first year of high school and the two started dating almost at the same year. And as for Nino, he still popular but dating became troublesome, at least that’s his defense.
Walking alone was boring, but he won’t be admitting that to Aiba and end up having the entire school know about his sentimental side.
I guess I’ll use the short-cut, he accidentally discover the route when he heard kittens crying and end up asking Aiba to ask Becky for help in finding them home - that’s one of the story that spread like wildfire the next day. His agony of being asked if the story was true was so extreme that he felt like punching Aiba - not that he didn’t do it on a regular basis.
Nino walked listlessly; though he meant to get home quickly the walk was really pleasant, and he even find himself humming but suddenly stopped when he saw someone sitting by the stairway, Shit I might really looked lame. He rarely seen anyone, apart from the old man who always sit on the bench near the tree, but the one sitting was definitely young person.
“Excuse me.”Nino said, though didn’t want to make any unnecessary talk but he had no choice since the stairway would lead to the main road.
The young man stood but he didn’t move from the spot, but instead he faced and stared at Nino.
Move already, dammit! Nino has no time for this kind stuff.
“So, how’s practice?”
Nino was shocked being asked by a total stranger, and how the hell did he know I was at practice, he definitely didn’t know this guy and he’s from another school by the looks of it.
“I’m sorry but who are you?”
“Did my look change that much, Ninomiya-san?”
Nino stared at him; his eyes bulged upon realizing who the young man is.

“Nino, are you done bathing?” Nino’s mom asked, tapping the door of the bathroom.
“Uhm…” Nino didn’t know how to answer his mom, his head was so full of one particular moment and he can’t believe he had done that.
It’s not him, it can’t be. Shit!
Matsumoto Jun, the boy who confessed to him during middle school and got rejected - they didn’t have any interaction after that short encounter at the roof-top.
“Well, whatever.”

“Mom, did you buy it?” Jun asked his mother upon arriving.
“I’m back.” His mom answered.
“Welcome back.” Jun greeted, taking the grocery bag from his mom. He placed it on the table and started rummaging inside until he found what he was looking for.
“Jun drink milk after dinner or you’ll get full.” His mom warned.
“I’ll eat lots later, don’t worry.” Jun assured and poured himself a second glass of milk.
“Did something happen? You look chipper.”
“Yup, something good. Oh! Mom I need to go earlier tomorrow morning.”
“Should I prepare breakfast?”
“SomethingI can eat to go.”
“Onigiri, then.”
“Alright.” Jun answered and went to his bedroom, humming.
Earlier
“So, how’s practice?”
“I’m sorry but who are you?”
“Did my look change that much, Ninomiya-san?”
Nino stared at him; his eyes bulged upon realizing who the young man is. Jun stepped down the stairs and stood straight in front of Nino.
“Ninomiya-san I really like you. Please go out with me.” Jun said as Nino look-up at him.
Nino couldn’t believe this was happening. He shoved Jun away and run as fast as he can.
What will happen Nino now that Jun has come back?
