Okay, so I also realized this weekend that I am broke and UW is really really expensive. I came to the realization that a student loan is not such a bad idea. That's what I'm gonna have to dive into. If that means you have to take out a $5000 loan to be able to live in a nice apartment for the summer,go to Spain when you want to, and pay for your education, then it's a good thing. Just think about it. Plus, you can still apply for scholarships and if you are eligible, you can get a lot! There are plenty of things you can do so that you don't have to work 3 jobs next year.
Yeah, it's getting to the point where even financial aid isn't helping much anymore, especially with middle-income families. There's a large debate at uwgb right now involving students paying higher segregated fees to expand the campus to 7500 students and build additions to the sports center. uwgb is also the least-funded school in the uw system. so you're not alone--there's lots of ppl around the state who are really suffering financially, even though they are working several jobs. That other comment about the student loans was really good-- and remember that you can still apply for student loans besides those given on your financial aid. I hope that you're still able to go to Spain & keep your apartment if that's what makes you happy. Life is too short to be limited by finances! When my parents were still married, my mom & I always asked my dad to take a vacation because we had plenty of money & we had never gone on a real family vacation (besides camping & going to family reunions in Milwaukee). My dad always said no, we shouldn't
