I ploughed through most of Paradise Lost on a (very determined) whim when I was in 6th form. I naively thought I should read it because *everyone* reads it. Later I discovered that what everyone actually reads is a summary (unless you're doing English at Oxford perhaps!). Enjoy Milton, my friend.
