I'm really glad Danny Elfman decided / was convinced to do a rock song (his first proper vocal performance in... 13 years?). I don't think I'm going to see Wanted, but 'The Little Things' definitely gets double thumbs from me.

Of course, I'm forgetting (and negating) performances in Corpse Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...

I didn't even know he did that sort of thing. How was yesterday? I didn't hear from you so just assumed you didn't want to meet up or anything. Hope it went well.

He was in a rock band before he started writing scores on a regular basis - Oingo Boingo! I can't believe I never shoved at least one or two of their songs down your throat.

They broke up in 1995, though. And even though there have been rumours of a reunion or something, Elfman is really firm on not doing it - because of the whole age thing, but also because apparently playing live with a rock band has given him permanent hearing loss! Oops.

But yeah, his vocal stuff is really good. I like his voice (Jack Skellington in Nightmare Before Christmas is a prime example).

I'm sorry I didn't get in touch, I was wandering around from 1-6pm, then I went to the meeting. It went really well, there are some very nice people working for the magazine. I didn't get any reviews sorted at the meeting itself, but I'm waiting for details as they get them. After it ended, it was past 8pm, so I just quick-marched back to Euston to get the second-to-last train.

So I didn't think you'd be free. Sorry about that. Next time I'm down we can liaise
