How nice to see 19th century values in a 21st century film. It depresses me rather that Amy Adams chose such a role, she's seemed such sensible actress so far.
Indeed. And that's not even going into Matthew Goode's atrocious 'Oirish' accent, or the whole roadtrip from 'Cardiff, Wales' to 'Dublin, Ireland' (they're major cities, people, with like, airports and stuff).
Oh, I was just going to ignore that as - well - typical Americanisms.
We'll ignore the fact that there's at least a half-dozen other airports of significant size in Ireland and the UK that would be more sensible to divert to than Cardiff. Shannon, for instance, is the standard airport-of-last/first-resort-when-crossing-the-Atlantic for most airlines. Belfast is significantly closer to a great-circle route between Boston / New York / wherever in America they start and Dublin. Hell, on a great-circle route, *London* is very nearly the same distance off course as Cardiff...
Indeed. But it's not just the geographical nonsense, there's also the insinuation that Ireland is made up entirely of maybe 2 pubs, 5 old men and some cows. :P
