Patron Saint- Update

Jan 30, 2013 10:56

So I'm still looking but have a short list that may get longer.

St Cuthbert and St Edward- Arguably truer patron saints of England than George
St Crispin-
St matthew- Customs officers
St Richard- Sussex
St Thomas More- civil servants
St Michael- Security forces

I like Michael too. St Edward is definitely a better English saint for England :)

I would suggest looking at the lifeand achievements of the saint you're thinking of as well as what they're saint of.

I will admit to not knowing a huge amount about the actual religious side of things, but historically Cuthbert was quite a character and not a bad choice imo. He was a general all round good egg, did a lot of healing the poor etc, was at the synod of Whitby and enacted one of the first bird protection laws, hence the Cuddy ducks (I promise right now that if you go with Cuthbert I will never call you Cuddy).
