Well I died,
that was the obvious defining point of the Event, I’ve been playing Karnak for 6 years (hell he was older than my my kids). He didn’t die in an epic defining blaze of Glory like you’d want but he died to a fair call, trying to save his troops (Ironically he was the only 1 they would have killed and I could probably have out paced the bad guys if I hadn’t stopped and isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing)
We had just left camp to go to my ritual and were aware of about a 40 strong monster squad OC on the path to our left but as they were OC we kept going, just after we’d headed down the hill they went IC and I decided to keep going and hope they’d ignore the 6 of us. Sadly they were targeting Paladins and 5 of the 6 of us were in unit tabards, so there was a call of “They’re in Heraldry- Get Them” and the chase was on.....
As above I stopped to help once I saw someone paralysed and it wasn’t long before I was, a quick Discern paladin later and I was bleeding to death and a quick coms breakdown after and I was locked. What no one seems to have twigged when writing this encounter is that the new Protodins have Paladin-devoted on their card and a half death count, so 2 minutes later when the bad guys checked on me I was dead, this confused the monsters and the ref.
The aftermath was good and there were some nice words, some surprising, some overdue (Beron) and some awesome (Vincenzo). I blubbed shamelessly because well I was sad and because people were being nice and well Marianne was crying and well I have depression.
The big downside was that my death meant Kaelin got a much worse result for her ritual than normal, and only got 1 thanks to Gareth’s heroics in stepping in for me despite the threat of Aberation.
I got a lot of sympathy as I travelled the field and an awful lot of refs checking I was ok. I also managed to achieve the holy grail for some people having successfully got killed 2 days from retirement. My Fictional creation Narrativius finally won as Karnak accidentally set him self up for death to Narrative Causality.
I’d also been preparing for death (including a chat with Emma about my next character’s ancestor 20 mins before I died) as I was expecting to go toe to toe with an Elder Vampire that night and thus it wasn’t long before Michael D’Ascoyne Albione Gentry from York turned up to join the Order of Celestial. I had a good couple of days plying with them and seem to have already made an impact.
There are a few fine points to hammer out and I need to tighten up on both my accent and my smutty mind but I really enjoyed playing him. So looks like I’m set for the future.
