Wait a minute - is it now acceptable to say has never hid? Maybe I'm misremembering my elementary school grammar. Or maybe someone has hidden the MLA from the NYTimes. (They use MLA style guidelines, right? Man, I just remember nothing from my schoolgirl days...)

Not that I've looked this up, but I don't think the NYT uses MLA. Probably a mix of AP and some of their own style stuff. As most newspapers do.
