I was in Tagaytay a couple of weeks ago with my girlfriends to attend the wedding of our good friend Chrissy. Tagaytay is about 2hrs drive away from Manila. Together with our Kiwi friend Joel and his pinoy gf Yayi we all started the day in Tagatay driving to the Taal Vista Hotel to see the Taal Volcano. Sun was out, air was cool and we had a stunning view of the volcano. Yayi also brought us to People’s Park, another vantage point to see the volcano and the surrounding areas. There’s an entrance fee of 15peso and you can either walk up the steep hill or take a jeepney for 10 pesos. We chose to save our pesos for something else.

There was a picnic ground, a restaurant and a few stalls selling souvenirs and local fruits at the top of the hill. The place was filled with locals having a picnic and kids running around - just another Saturday affair. After taking a few obligatory shot, we rushed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. But before that we had to stop at Collette for the famous buko pie - coconut pie with custard filling. Its heaven in your mouth!!

Collette's Buko Pie and other variety of filipinas sweets

4 girls 1 bathroom, don’t know how we did it but we managed to get ready within an hour before the driver came to fetch us to the church. The wedding was held at a nice little charming church called San Antonio de Padua Quasi. It started to rain halfway through the ceremony and it didn’t stop! It continued throughout the night and into the next morning. The reception was held at the swanky Balai Taal over-looking the Taal Volcano. The view I imagined would be breath-taking had it not been raining and misty. We ate, drank and danced into the night (and in the rain too!) It was great to catch up with my girls - Chyka, Mariana and the bride Chrissy. The four of us met by chance during a Couchsurfing dinner gathering some years back and have been great friend since. I can’t remember when the last time all of us were together. And I don’t know when we will all be together again. Chyka is moving to Chicago to be with her husband, Mariana is heading to Georgia (the country) for a teaching stint, Chris is returning to her job in Luxembourg while I remain in Singapore to figure out my next move.... But the real question is, who’s getting hitch next :)??
