So, I have a friend who was married for 12 years to a guy.
He's a teacher (this is an important detail) - a music teacher. When he started teaching, it was necessary for him to get a music degree, and then an education degree. (also a necessary detail)
My friend though (Let's call her C, shall we?) has no further qualifications 14 years after leaving high school.
Anyways, last night, she (once more) rang us in tears.
See, he plays tuba in a rather well known brass band in NSW. She has been the liaison officer for the same band for the last 10 years.
It seems that the band master has told her that she can no longer go to gigs with he band, because there is a restraining order in place. When C asked who told the band master this, C was told "your husband. and he's more important to the band". yes. because 6 tubas in a band is so necessary. bleh
So, C rings the musical director. She tells him that the prick tried to kill her. He's quoted as saying "I could kill you right now, you know that?" The Musical director rings her back three hours later, and confirms that C will not be going to gigs with the band any more.
So. Where to from here?
Simple, really.
C tells the guys in the band the full story. Tells all of them, not just the 3 or 4 that I know of that already know the full story.
See, this particular tuba player and music teacher has a new girlfriend. He's been seeing her for 3 years now. Only thing is, the girlfriend is 18.
The biggest problem, though? She was once his student. He was having an affair with this young girl when he was her teacher.
C forgot to tell the band master and the musical director that bit. We all know that if the MD and band master knew all of it - the repeated beatings, the hole in the wal that is the exact size of C's body (he threw her through it one day in rage), the bruises she's been covering up for 10 fucking years.
Here's the bit I don't get, though. Mr Tuba once had the shits with a euphonium player from within the band. No particular reason, just Mr Tuba being his normal arrogant shit self, and the eupho player being his normal annoying self. Mr Tuba picked up the eupho player, and threw him against the window in the bands bus. Shattered it.
Now, we all know this eupho player. He's an annoying arse. But that's by the by. Noone deserves to be almost thrown through the window. The thing that gets me is that Mr Tuba never apologised, was never reprimanded, and didn't have to pay to get the window replaced.

*sigh* I know I'm emotionally involved, and that I'm biased against him, I just don't understand why the victim is the one being punished.

*grins* here's hoping the musicians rumour mill picks up the story. I'm sure it's recognisable to anyone who knows them, even though I haven't said any names.
