Good morning LJ land. It is currently -17 here in Palmer Alaska. Last night was fun. We had our friend over and made her dinner. We played a game of scrabble and drank a little wine (I barely sipped a quarter of a shot) and ate some magic cookie bars ( Read more... )

Yike! You have been through it! Take care of yourself and don't rush it!

I had a total hysterectomy and prolapse repairs the 5th of Oct, and I am just now getting back to "Normal," and that was with only minor complications (and an on-going bladder infection.) Don't expect to be back to normal right away - give yourself time. The infections are really draining and add weeks to your recovery time.

Good luck!

As I remember, you came home with a catheter correct?? Was it suprapubic or regular? Who was your doctor?

I have a suprapubic line and last night had red urine again. I'm not sure if this is normal and have a call in to the doctor. I am so scared and worried. I think things will get better once the catheter tube is out and I can actually start to heal.

Mine was regular because they didn't have to make a large incision or go into the bladder - I would think some blood would be expected since your bladder was involved. My mom had bladder surgery and had some blood for quite a while. Keep in mind that is is having to function and heal at the same time. But DO check. they assume you know what to expect... I have no idea WHY - but they seem to. You are right - it will be MUCH better when you have the catheter out ( ... )

BOTH of my doctors don't seem to be concerned about the occasional blood. I do have to be put under again on Tuesday to have the stent in my ureter removed. Can you say terrified?? Haven't I been through enough yet? My bladder injury may not be healed yet either. I will have the stent out and then I guess my doc has decided to leave the SP tube in for a few more days. I just still can't believe all of this happened to me. I was supposed to be fully recovered by Monday. I'll be pretty depressed that day ( ... )

Hysterectomy- anonymous January 30 2009, 06:03:33 UTC
I had to have a hysterectomy when i was 27 bcuz of a tumor (an i was bleeding to death) BUT i didnt have any complications at all. All of my surgery was done from the *inside* so my body was not cut open at all. Hell the annoying cath was out the day after surgery! Do u think you Dr's are at fault Becky? In total i was also in the hospital for a week, i did take a xtra day to relax b4 i went home though. I cant believe wht you have had to go threw they really fucked you up! An as for being *normal*?! I dont even know if that is possible after that surgery? Ive been a huge mess of moods sense my surgery (im 36 now)! Its been too long sense my surgery to even membr my rules but the most i can recall is not lifting anything over so many lbs. Other than that my Dr told me that regular everyday xercize was very good for me. Guess i will stop *ramble'n* for now. You are in my thoughts hun,, love u tons! Heather :x

Actually, my six week anniversary was yesterday and I feel really good! My incision (from belly button to pubic bone) is healing nicely and the hole from the suprapubic catheter (the tube came from insde my bladder through my belly right below my belly button so it looks like I have two now) is still healing. They couldn't stitch that shut because after having the tube in for 3 weeks, the edges couldn't be stitched. It has had to heal shut by itself, so that was a lesson in patience and germ control. It's almost closed now ( ... )
