In which I am Supremely Organized:
Work continues to really kick my butt. In addition to covering a coworker for two weeks (totally fair as he covered me in Jan), I feel like i was the only one actually working last week. I totally snapped at my poor supervisor this morning when she begged me to take more wound care patients in addition to the 12 I already had, including two admissions. "And when exactly am I supposed to see them?" I got a very subdued "okay" in response. I felt bad, it's not her fault my stupid job doesn't want to hire more nurses.
Oh, and the best? Apparently our agency failed some sort of patient satisfaction survey. The response to this? Hire more nurses? Get a receptionist that can answer the phone and actually transfer a call where it's supposed to go? Of course not. instead we get Customer Service training. Three two hour sessions, in which we have to rush through all our visits, thereby pissing off our patients, in order to get to the office, to learn how to make Empathic Responses.
The worst? No one gets my Counselor Troi jokes. Where are the trekkies when i need them??
I drank a real (as in not diet) Dr Pepper this evening, along with two aspirin and some chocolate bunny ears in order to try to kill this headache which has been plaguing me since this time last week. Still have a headache but now am bouncing off walls.
Easter weekend turned out lovely. I miraculously finished work Friday in time to shower before going to church (it's the little things). Saturday I went to help at an Easter egg hunt in the Bronx, which ended up needing to be indoors because of rain, and they had way too much help as a result so I was able to cut out early and go to Target <3. Purchased a mini boombox for my ipod, and a cupcake tin set with a carry caddy for cupcake experimentation next week. Also butterfly shaped sprinkles!
Saturday night I went to an Easter vigil service in Astoria, which was rather cool if a tad disorganized, and they had champagne and chocolate cookies for us at the end :) Then I came home and watched Doctor Who.
Sunday morning slept in, made brunch for my and TehJerry - bacon, eggs and cheese! Much cheese! I might have over-cheesed this weekend... Weather was gorgeous so went for a bike ride, then church in the evening (might be a bit churched out now), and come home to watch Game of Thrones (after kicking tehjerry off tv. srsly, do we really need to relive 'this week in Mets baseball'?)
On a bit of a re-reading binge lately. It started with Game of Thrones - I hadn't planned to reread it, but I liked the first ep of the series, and then went to look up one thing and ended up reading as far as the ep. Now I'm halfway through. Might as well read the other three and then I'll be all ready for when "A Dance With Dragons" FINALLY comes out.
We're reading "March" by Geraldine Brooks for book club, so re-reading "Little Women" on my kindle/phone as well. I haven't read it since I was in junior high, but it used to be one of my favorites. I'm a bit worried to start March now, for fear she does something awful to the storyline...
Oh, in one of those annoying articles about women and fantasy that came out last week when GoT started, there was a line somewhere about women not begging their book clubs to read "The Hobbit"
Ahem. I've been suggesting "The Hobbit" for three months now! Maybe the fourth time will be the charm.
