1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Hmmm...the only thing I can think of was that I got up before 11am every day for better than two months - pretty sure I never did THAT before. XD
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Eh, not really a "resolution" kind of person.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not close, but a number of acquaintances became parents this year.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
A steady job that doesn't inspire homicidal mania in me. Alternately, a book deal. =P
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
What am I, a walking calendar? Events I remember if they're important enough, but dates? Forget it.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably my performance in 'Love, Sex, and the IRS' - despite being a supporting role and a stock character, I apparently gave a strong enough performance to be singled out in reviews, and got gales of laughter every night.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I totally failed to kill certain individuals who desperately need killing. Aside from that, I'd say just a general failure to move forward with my life - I've been running in place of late, I'm afraid.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious, just small work-related injuries (the worst was when I twisted my ankle rather badly this summer) and the occasional cold.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
This would have been easy if I'd managed to get that new computer before year's end. As it is, I'd say it's a toss-up between Katamari Damacy and Shadow of the Colossus.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I can't really think of anything that deserves singling out, but that doesn't mean that there wasn't anything. It's an unfortunate reality that bad things are easily recalled and good ones are soon forgotten. -_-;
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My brother's ex-wife's ex-husband (not my brother) - try following THAT one. It's true that most of his worst behavior is the result of his mental illness, but the decision to stop taking his meds for said illness is a behavior that he IS responsible for. Honorable mention goes to his parents for general asshattery.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills, mostly. It's appalling how much of one's money is absorbed by the basic necessities of life. I miss the days where if I got a quarter, it was MY quarter, dammit. XD
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Hmmm, the first Super Robot Taisen games to be officially released in English is pretty big. Super Robot Taisen Original Generations and Original Generations Gaiden is, too. Now, let's see those two things intersect, dammit! ;_;
16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Can't really think of one. Ask me again in a few years when I've heard the song, whatever it is, and it's reminded me of 2007.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
About the same, but maybe a little happier.
ii. thinner or fatter?
Same, unfortunately...damn spare tire. I am otherwise buff, so why must my waistline buck the general trend? >=O
iii. richer or poorer?
Richer, but only until I get my new comp.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working, I guess - honestly, I love my job and if I could do it three days a week I'd be pretty damn happy. Unfortunately, it's more like three times a month...if I'm lucky, even.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Letting my bedtime pass me by as I look up stuff on Wikipedia half (or even all) of the night. Wiki is awesome, but sleep's kind of important, too. XD
20. How did you be spend Christmas?
Christmas Eve was pretty much entirely spent at church - I was Joseph for the kids' musical pageant at the early service, and the choir performed at the late service. Then it was back home for about an hour and a half of sitting around talking with my folks and opening presents. Christmas Day was spent partly with Vanessa and the kids (the latter of which adore We Love Katamari, BTW) and then the remainder was spent getting acquainted with Twilight Princess. ^_^
21. At any point in this past year did you do something that you consider to be completely out of your usual character?
Technically, it's impossible for anyone to do anything out-of-character - nobody can do something that they wouldn't do. It's just a case of knowing and understanding the reasons behind an action that seems strange. Anyway, the answer's "no".
22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
No, although I have experienced a couple of crushes - one on a girl I met this year via theatre. I was pretty damn sure this was going to go somewhere, but apparently not. It kind of sucks, because we're in another show together right now and she's still pretty damn awesome, but I'm determined not to get my hopes up.
Alternately, I've lately been finding myself thinking fondly of a girl I've been acquainted with for years. She's always been pretty damn awesome, but of late I guess I've just been noticing it more. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm likely to get anywhere here, either. -_-
23. How many one-night stands?
None. Not my style, in any case.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
No TV reception, so I don't actually get to watch shows when they air.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate tends to burn itself out in me pretty quickly - it's just too much energy and effort. On those rare occasions when someone does something truly hate-worthy, it cools into a cold determination to bend them in interesting ways if given the opportunity. And yes, my "To Bend" list has one more person on it this year.
26. What was the best book you read?
Ack, I hate trying to pick 'bests'. >_< Ummm, let's call it "Night Watch" by Terry Pratchett? (Hang in there, TP!)
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Some people may think it's silly, but I really got into super robot show themes (and other associated musics) this year. About half of my current playlist is JAM Project, and another quarter are classic robot show themes. XD
28. What did you want and get?
Aside from various Christmas things, the main thing was enough money to replace my comp (still haven't actually replaced it, but the money is in the bank, anyway).
29. What did you want and not get?
The part of the Beast in "Beauty and the Beast". Which is okay, because the guy who did get it is genuinely more awesome than I am - he's also got a few decades of experience up on me, so it doesn't quite pain my ego to admit that he's better than me. XD
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Eeeeee, tough. I think I'm gonna go with Nausicaa (hey, I didn't see it until this year). ^_^
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Nothing, and 29. For the record, starting next year I'm getting younger.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Either finding a job that I can be happy with, or actually having romantic feelings returned by someone. But even without those, it was an alright year.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Jeans, t-shirt, Chuck Taylors, aura of supreme power. >=D
34. What kept you sane?
Who says I stayed sane? Or even started that way? >=D
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Yeah, not really a celeb-fancier. I'm more of a cat-fancier.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I'm afraid I've generally sunk into apathy over politics - my current opinion is that my country would be best served by scrapping the current system of government and starting over, but since that isn't likely to happen it's hard to summon the energy to care about a system that manages to truck along just on the proper side of "appalling" without my input.
37. Who did you miss?
My brother, primarily. With any luck, he'll be home before this next year is half over though. Of course, I'm sure he'll take it into his head immediately to pack up his family and move 8+ hours away for no sufficiently good reason, but that's a complaint for next year's list.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
It's a toss-up between the many new and awesome folks I met in theatre this year, and the smaller but equally awesome group of folks in my D&D game.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
...eh? I wasn't paying attention. Hopefully, there won't be a quiz later. ^_^;
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
It's a toss-up between the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" and JAM Project's "Spirits of Steel". Hah, decipher that one, suckers. >=D
