Message Unheard | Part 3

Traffic into Brooklyn was still traffic at almost 6:00 AM. It took just as long as any other day, much to the Admiral's dismay. He didn't even give himself time to settle into his desk before he flipped on his computer and waited for it to boot.

He was antsy. Starbuck had replied to his text message to inform him she was on her way. It only ( Read more... )

Kara felt like she'd run the entire way to the office, and she mostly had. When the cab she'd snagged snarled in traffic halfway to the office, she'd paid, hopped out, and made it the rest of the way on foot. She brushed off his concern with a practiced shrug, pulling away from him until she was standing beside her desk, facing him.

"I'm waiting to hear back from Ziggy, but I think she's upstate. In Westchester." Which, he didn't need to remind her, had been their theory for too-long. It was frustrating, to say least. "She called me, said she was on a golf course and it was close to dawn, and then..." Al ran a hand down his face and moved back to his desk to retrieve his cigar. "Something happened. Not sure what, exactly, but it sounded like someone was hauling her away."

The Admiral paced behind his desk. "I'm going up there."
