Do I Fucking Look Under Eighteen to You?!

So I flipped out on the guy at EB today when I pre-ordered Mass Effect and he carded me.  I felt bad afterwards, but I still haven't gotten to that point (and everyone insists that it's coming!) where it's cool to look ten years younger than you actually are.

Me too. I still get carded for booze in Canada, and the drinking age is 19! I'm 27! I know teens are the new twenties or something, but I like not being a teenager so much!

I'm really tired of having people tell me what a blessing it is to look so young, too. I haven't had it be convenient once yet!

Dude, I have not been carded for alcohol more than ten times in my life. But it seems like I get carded every time I go to Home Depot. They've nailed me when I bought spray paint, epoxy, foam insulation, plumber's joint compound and (this one was awesome) a goddamn AXE. Come on, guys -- if you wouldn't stop me from buying the six-pack, let me have the axe.

I didn't even know they carded for axes. I also don't understand why they'd card for the other stuff, unless they're afraid you're going to build a bomb with the components.

They're worried I'm going to take it home and huff the gases. You must be 18 years old to legally huff aerosol gas.

Well, to nail the opposite case (not carding those who are too young but look old enough), a lot of places now have the policy of "we card everyone under 30". I've been with a group of a dozen people, none of us under 25, and we all got carded.

I don't mind if they card everyone, but I was definitely singled out in this instance. There were plenty of people who were 5-10 years my junior who didn't get carded for M-rated games.
