I'm sorry to hear that you're walking on eggshells.
SAM had a very short fuse (zero to rage in 1 minute) and it got to the point where I was always on edge because I just never knew if I was going to get "Happy SAM" or "Angry SAM" at any given moment of the day. Even though it was never ever directed my way, just being around that kind of unpredictability just really got to me after a while.
Another thing I see in common? Inability to stand up to his parents. SAM's parents would walk all over him, and every time they did I had to deal with the emasculated rage that followed. *sigh*
