So last night a whole bunch of people from my church had a Fair Trade supper thing at 5pm. A few guys spoke a bit about fair trade stuff and poverty, our minister spoke about the Christian perspective on poverty and then we prayed about it all, particularly the chocolate and tea issues --> using child slave labour. anyway heard tonight that at 6pm

The thing with fair trade is that because the prices are being artificially inflated, its actually not a very sustainable way to help the farmers. It just encourages them to produce more of a commodity that there's already an oversupply of, instead of diversifying into products for which there's a higher demand.
