OK, so after mentioning the downer news in my last post and after procratinating to take my REAL ID driver licence due to what I believed would put yet another downer and add the dreaded “corrective lenses” on my REAL ID CA drivers license. I got to the DMV office early. And had to wait for 70 minutes to opening ( Read more... )

We just got our passports renewed a couple of years ago, so we should be fine.

Gotta love Costco!

And good on ya for getting your license renewed!

Thanks Sabot.

I also fixed the passport issue today and hoooooly hell! Now they ask questions that I honestly didn't know so well today even to renew it! When I renewed my second passport it was a very simple form one page straight forward. Today it has grown into an absurd level of good ol' United States bureaucrazy! Seriously man! Making you take an oath raising your right hand saying that all the information submitted is true, well sure. And the second part, asking you if the picture was a true picture of you taken recently? Holy SH*T! Come on man! I took that picture 2 days earlier and asking that stupid crap? Seriously? I was wearing my black hat and took it off so the agent could see me better. I said, to him look at the picture, that's me! *oops ( ... )

I checked my passport and it's still good until 2022, so it will work for the cruise.

After our Europe trip I needed to get a new DL because the old one was stolen by that 1390 in Paris, I decided to go for the new "Real" ID since they're going to require it on all plane flights soon, if not already. Well, they said on the stupid NM website that I could bring a property tax bill as proof or residence. Then I got there, waited for an hour, and they said, "Oh, yeah, this is more than a month old. We can't use this." Which is stupid because property tax bills annual here. Дебилы... блять! I was ready to chimp out due to my wasted time. But, as it turned out, I was able to go out to my car and get the "proof of insurance" card and use that.

*Hey man, I still feel bad for your unfortunate situation in France and all the damned hassle it created.

And seriously? FACEPALM! it's your friggin' property tax bill. How many times are you going to move out of the domicile you own? Дебилы... блять! Indeed! (I had to use the Google translate to see what that meant)

As in my case, I took 2 utility bills and two financial documents just to have some back ups just in case they busted out with that kind of BS. Only two were sufficient. Good on you thinking of going to your truck and finding the proof of insurance.

I had to get REAL ID twice. First in New Jersey. Then I moved to Delaware and then Delaware introduced REAL ID, so I had to get that again! Haha. It needed a lot of documentation. Good thing I already had my passport and utility bills ready at that time, so it didn't take too long.

Wow! Real ID shenanigans just by moving to another state? oh man! What an annoyance.

I have a feeling REAL ID will just make it more difficult to travel domestically or move out-of-state.

Le contraire, Monsieur, no really, the Real ID makes it easier to travel. It will be required by late 2020 even to fly domestically. Unless you want to use your passport as a verified form of ID. And holy heck!

I received my brand new CA driver’s license in only nine days after applying for it. I guess our state isn’t so bad at this bureaucraZy stuff! 😉
