bellonablack. AU. Very silly. Luna notices something wrong with the Muggles.
"Harry?"
"Yeah?"
"One, well, no more then one of these people are very ill."
"What?" He turns to the young woman seated beside him and then looks over the rest of the Muggle passengers of the number 19 bus. The Knight Bus had broken down and instead of walking the rest of the way Harry had suggested getting this bus.
She leans her head close to him and speaks in a whisper, concerned. "I think they have Licky Hirudo."
"What?"
"Brain leeches. They suck out your ideas, feed on them. Sometimes that's a good idea but you have to use them carefully otherwise you could end up with an empty head. Muggles can't see them. It looks like an infestation. Can't you hear them?" Harry, always on the edge of bursting into laughter when she starts talking like this, looks around the bus more closely and sees what she's so concerned with.
"Ahahahaha!" He claps a hand over his mouth when some turn to look at him and lowers his grinning face to her. She looks a little peeved, in her detached way.
"What?"
"They're not brain leeches Luna, they're Walkman's. That's what Muggles use to listen to music."
Luna slumps a little in disappointment before she straightens again, leaning close to the person before them and lifts a finger to poke one of the black tadpole like objects out of his ear. Harry grabs her hand and brings it between them but the man turns around with a frown.
"What you playing at?"
"Sorry. She, eh -"
"I just wanted to make sure your brain was in one piece."
The Muggle stills for a moment and then smiles, clearly thinking the blond girl isn't all there and doesn't want to rattle her. "Right, right. Well I'm fine, thanks." He turns back around and places the earpod back to it's rightful place.
Luna gazes around at the other people nodding to their music, talking on their mobiles and looks mildly impressed. "That's a good idea, I'll tell dad about them when I get home, even if it's not a leech...Harry?"
"Hmm?"
"You can let go of my hand now."
"Oh, sorry." Feeling an explicable fluttering in his stomach he quickly settles his hand in his lap as Luna serenely watches the Muggles through the foggy bus window.
