His hair comes away in her hands in soft clumps and then fall to the ground. But some land on her and she feels itchy, likes it's got under her clothes, finely stabbing her skin. She doesn't want to do this but she had the night shift. The shears buzz as she shaves his hair off and he wakes, blinking his pained eyes open to see her. A silence lingers and he closes his eyes again, Eden thinking he's gone back to sleep.

"I was born in Queens, at the Elmhurst Hospital." He says suddenly and Eden stops and stares. He was lucid and looking just as startled as her.

"...okaaay. And why are you telling me that?"

"Because you told me to, out by the trees."

Frowning Eden moves away from him and drops the shears onto a tray as he attempts to lift his hands up but stops, looking down at the cuffs strapping him down to the bed. Then her confusion clears as she thinks back. Before she had apprehended him she said something.

Tell me all about yourself.

He frowns at her angrily, starting to breathe heavily. "What did you do to me? I feel..." He trails off, a look on his face like he just tasted something revolting.

"Feel like divulging?" She smiles then, it must be terrible for him, the need bursting inside to talk and tell her everything. He starts to sweat, swallows and Eden leans against the wall, calmly crossing her arms. She smiles pleasantly. "Well go on then, tell me." Her ability must be still lingering, she was evolving and this time she felt no guilt. He would be dead soon anyway so she might as well hear what he's got to say for himself, more for her to put in the report for Bennet.

He struggles, his once pale face now very red but his lips part with a sighing breath and he begins speaking. He tells Eden about his childhood, about his family and it all sounds very pathetic, lonely and filled with deep yearnings and unfulfilled dreams.

"I never had a girlfriend. My mom bribed our neighbour so I could take her daughter to the prom. She - she didn't even sit at the same table as me." He says and he looks like he wants to vomit, he was extremely humiliated. Eden laughs, licking her teeth and he glares at her. She pouts in mock sympathy.

"Aww, poor Gabriel. I remember the way you used to dress, the glasses and the cardigans. So shy and meek, right?" She sneers, staring at him, he looks like a thug now. But then he shocks her by shaking his head with a small secretive smile.

"No, actually I wasn't. I was just pretending to be like that. I wanted to fool people into believing I was humble and harmless because then they would leave me alone. Because really? Even then I knew I was special and they weren't. I was laughing at them in the inside. They meant nothing to me." He utters in a soft supercilious tone and Eden narrows her eyes and comes closer. She hums, tilting her head as she lays her hand on his shaved head and he jerks back a little. He was powerless and at her mercy.

"Hmm...I could phone your mother right now, tell her how special her boy has become, maybe even arrange a visit? VIP." The smirk is dropped from his face like a heavy stone and replaced with panic.

"No! You fucking dare and I'll rip-"

"Oow, I hit a sore spot. You don't scare me. For all you know I've already done it. You haven't been in contact with your mother for months. She misses you, by the way,  she told me herself."

"You're lying." He sneers and looks away from her. Eden leans down to him and places her mouth next to his ear.

"She's got a lot snow globes, hasn't she?" She leans up with a small triumphant smile when he stills and stares at her shocked and helpless. He closes his eyes, not wanting to show that she's getting to him. But she wasn't finished yet. All she was doing was making him squirm and for a normal person that's all it would be, embarrassment. But for him? It was torture. "What would you feel if she did know about all the innocent people you've killed? All the terrible things you've done?" Her voice shakes and the fearless, calm persona that she wears so well starts to shake.

-Diediediediedie you son of a bitch-

He presses his lips together until they go white, eyes spiteful and Eden cocks an eyebrow at him and then with calm eyes places her finger between his cotton covered legs and flicks. He screams and his eyes bug out of his head, immediately watering. He tries to fold himself into a protective position but can't move and start shouting wildly, his sense of control taken from him. "Shame! Shit...ssshi...bitch!" He pants and she smiles.

"See, not hard was it? Think of this like therapy, I'm your psychologist. So, shame? You? Really?"

"Yess." He hisses, eyes shining with hate and then his head thumps back down and he stares at the ceiling, releasing a long suffering sigh before speaking. "I feel - I feel it all the time. It's so intense and no matter what I do it's always there. It's pathetic...I am." He whispers sadly and then suddenly jerks upright as he utters this, enraged that he was forced to reveal his closely guarded secrets. "Oh god just leave me alone you bitch!" She purses her lips and flicks him again and his howls echo around the walls. Eden places a finger to her lips, shushing him and then wipes the tormented tears from his cheeks.

"Why do you feel shame?"

He groans but can't stop. "Because - because I'm unworthy. Because I don't care...I feel shame because I know what's wrong with me and I can't do anything about it. I'm hollow." He whispers miserably and she's intensely reminded of the first time she had met him. He had been so unhappy but she hadn't suspect him then, just felt pity. She walks around his cot and then turns sharply when the door is opened. A man comes in with a bowl of soup on a tray and she nods at him to leave it on the floor.

"Your lunch is here..."

"Will you unchain me?"

She doesn't respond but picks up the bowl and goes to him. She ladles up the soup and hovers the spoon by his mouth and after a heated glare he open his mouth and takes it. She waits until he finishes and stands by the door. She wants to go, she needs sleep, but she can't go yet. She needs to know more.

"What's wrong with you? Did you see a psychologist? There's no record of it."

"No I didn't. I don't like people nosing into things that don't concern them." He says bitingly and she smiles sarcastically, comes closer. "I...I went to the library, after I killed Brian Davis. I didn't know what was happening to me. I know that I'm not wholly responsible..." He swallows and Eden becomes still, staring at him intensely. He looks into her eyes with a sad smile. "We met after I killed him, seems so long ago now. Did they place you at the book store so you could spy on me?" Eden nods, not saying anything and he looks away. "I liked seeing you there, I ran out of shelf space I bought so many."

Feeling a hot, strange and almost painful sensation creeping over her Eden clears her throat. "The library? What did you find out?"

He grins and shrugs his shoulders. "Guess."

"No I want you to tell me."

"Looks like your song is wearing off...I went to the book store first, I felt safe there. That morning they found his body in the river, it was in the newspaper. Only page seven but I still felt like - like the sky was going to crash down on me at any moment, the guilt...you were new at the shop and I left, went to the library..." He trails off and Eden leans down, voice low.

"And?"

His eyes pin to hers an there's nothing mocking in them, in fact she couldn't read him at all. "And? And nothing. There was nothing there that could define what I was. I'm not like...anyone. I'm unique."

Eden remains standing over him, now certain that her ability's hold must have gone. Now all she would get would be lies, deceit and arrogance. She straightens, shaking her head and prepares to leave.

"...You want me to die, don't you? Because of Papa Suresh? I can tell...do you have any idea how badly I want to get my hands on you?"

"Keep dreaming Gabriel."

"That's not my name and if I had to guess I bet Eden isn't yours either."

"I really don't give a shit. I'm just here to get information for your report. This will be the last time anyone will talk to you, your last...well anything. So the sooner you tell me about what happened the sooner I can leave and you can die. It's already been..." she stares at her watch," two hours, Gabriel, and I can see you're tired. So hurry the hell up."

"You were much more friendly before, I never guessed, just the girl in the book store, next door...why are you so eager to know?"

"I'm not, just doing my job."

"Following orders. You! Who can command anything and everything. It makes me sick, you're not even human any more, you're more. Why? Why would you let anyone tell you what to do?" He was completely and sincerely offended, as well as confused. Eden stands by the door, back to him but she turns her cheek in his direction.

"Why? Because it's my choice. You've let this...thing take you over and make you believe that you're better then everyone else. Because of this thing we think we're entitled to do what we want. But we're not. All we do is hurt people."

"Pretty sure people still do that without what we have." He says it softly, like he was trying to comfort her and Eden tries not to remind herself of that sad man in his old shop. She casts a look at him before she closes and locks his door, moving around to stare down at him through the glass.

"You know the myth about Narcissus right? I think I understand it now, about being unable to look away from yourself. I don't think it was beauty that captured him but horror, like your own personal train wreck happening before your eyes...I've looked into my pool and there's no beautiful reflection, no matter how much I wish it was. No, it's just shallow and the waters are filthy."

"Very poetic."

His jaw clenches in annoyance at her droll tone. "Are you always this sarcastic?" She smiles softly, shrugging and he pins his eyes to her as she turns her back. "Wait! If you really know my mom, don't tell her about me. She thinks I'm travelling, maybe - maybe she could believe that I died in an accident. Once you're done with me. They found my body at the bottom of a cliff or something. She can't know the truth." He sounds desperate, self pitying.

Not turning to him she opens the door, half cast in shadow and light. "There won't ever be a body to find Gabriel... I wish I had got to you sooner." The door shuts softly behind her and he's plunged in darkness, silence broken by his ragged breath.
