My week is being much more insane than anticipated, so my Eura dress class this week will highlight making the garment for babies, toddlers, and  girls, not women, although I'm happy to talk about some of the noteworthy points of scaling the pattern up to accommodate a grown-up figure ( Read more... )

One of my friends demoed how to make her gored tunic pattern using an American-girl sized doll. She was able to show all the construction techniques on a small scale. It worked wonderfully for teacher and for participants.

Wow - neat idea! We don't have any American Girl dolls, but I bet they would work well for many dress types.

Hm. Now I want to go see if E's old tunic would fit one of the baby dolls we have around. Thanks!

I hope E's tunic fits a dolly. Or perhaps you could borrow an AG-type dolly just for the weekend.

Forgot to say, I think my friend Cyntha Virtue's web site has scattered recommendations for trying out various other patterns on the dolls, for instance to work out a circular houpelande pattern.

Hi,

My name is Aíbinn, I live in the Barony of Lions Gate in the principality of Tir Righ, Kingdom of An Tir. I was wondering if you could send me the pattern you use for the Eura underdress? I haven't made one before and I just had a baby, she and I both need new garb and this looks like it could be made to have a large enough neck opening for her giant baby head! If this is possible I would truly appreciate it. My email is the(underscore)thorne(at)hotmail(dot)com.

Thank you,

Aíbinn

Greeting, my lady, and congratulations on your new baby!
As luck would both have and not have it, I don't currently have this handout online, bit I did just present this class again this last weekend, so I have handouts with me here on Vacation. If you would like to PM me your physical address, I'd be delighted to put a copy in the maill to you, along with the offer to talk you through some od the details of construction that I present in the class, but not in the handout.
Enjoy!
