Reminds me of an old family story, about a servant who was told that a child she was fond of could only have one spoonful of sweet beans, so she gave the child a ladle-full!
It's so nice to read about someone who is coping well with chronic health issues - and even improving! I rather suspect your attitude the fact that you keep doing things, rather than giving in, are directly related to the occasional gift of extra spoons.
Well, I do things when I can; within an hour of writing this post this morning, my body decided that it was going to take the day off, and I've just had to roll with it! No bitterness, just a reminder that I need to make hay while the sun shines, and when the spoon drawer is full!
I'm glad you're not mad at yourself anymore. :-) I do understand that. I'm starting to get to that point to. I'm no longer mad at myself. I'm pissed off at the pain. *grin* Thanks to my meds, I'm able to use some of my spoons from the next day because I don't have to deal with anything or anyone but myself once I get home. This means I can do stupid things like this past weekend. I'll probably spend the next few days on my back, but that's okay because nobody is depending on me for anything..of course that's a whole nuther kettle of gefilte fish. *grin*
I *can* borrow spoons against the next day (as I do at all the events *I* attend), but only if I have adrenaline or social energy on tap to do it; otherwise they just aren't accessible, somehow. After a big weekend event, and my inability to *completely* crash out, due to the kids, I usually figure that I'll be back to (my version of) full function again by Thursday. ;)
Yup. That's what I do for events as well. I use up about 2 days worth of spoons..extra. Then I crash for two days. I don't have kids to drag me off the bed. that's worth the extra two days. *grin*
I never thought about the adrenaline and social energy thing. But it is true. If it something that's going to keep my energy I can find the spoons. If it's not I usually don't do it. :-(
