Season's Greetings to all of you, I hope you're all having a wonderful week whether you're celebrating Christmas or not. Wishing you all health, wealth and happiness! ♥
The
Yuletide and
Yuletide Madness collections are both live, and in between family commitments and eating way too much bigos, I've been wallowing in all the wonderful fic. I wrote some stuff that's obviously still anon now but it all seems to have been liked by the intended recipients so I'm super happy about that. Between the
marvel_bang and three
yuletide fics I've written more in the past three months than in the whole of the previous year. It's been amazing.
I received fantastic gifts, both of them focusing on finding happiness for T.J. Hammond, and I could not be more pleased about this turn of events.
High, Lows; Mostly Highs , a crossover of Political Animals and Star Trek, whereby T.J is a Star Fleet lieutenant, he and Capt Jim Kirk having known each other since they were kids. This is such a treat - in name and nature - T.J. with real friends who will stick up for him and have his back. Spock is fantastic in this, as is Jim, all of them in character and written so well, with humour and skill. I just love it, guys, it's so cool and awesome and I smiled through the whole thing while reading. Thank you so much, anon!author :D
Made of Star Stuff , a crossover of Political Animals and The Martian, is basically the realisation of a dream I didn't realise I was having. It's T.J. Hammond and Mark Watney connecting, and it's so them, SO THEM. I think they're a match made in heaven, and anon!author is a genius for making it happen. I requested both fandoms but didn't think of putting them together until this author did, and it's so perfect I'm literally IN PAIN over it. They both need someone to see the man behind the hype. Mark has experienced what is arguably the most profound loneliness of any human being ever, and T.J thinks everyone wants him for his Hammond, and both of them are so lonely with so much to offer, I just can't deal with it, the idea that this author thought to take these two characters from my requested fandoms and then to give them to each other is so beautiful and compelling.
The story is clever and funny, with Mark doing is hammy best to woo T.J. into a date, and T.J. being older than his years and cautious - he's seen it all but he wants that date. And then there is banter and some truths, mind-blowing sex and a real connection, and honestly flist, I'm so enamoured of this story, I have re-read it three times. I think they're my new OTP. Author, if you read this, I'm going to woo you like Mark, with cheesy lines, and I can't court you by writing you music like T.J. but I will make you art if you would like, to get you writing Mark/T.J. again because you've snicked the mother lode and there's gold in them thar hills.
AAAAND!! As I was typing up this post, a part 2 was posted as part of Yuletide Madness - it's
Across the Sea of Space, and it made my cry with happiness even though it's not a gift for me, because I love long-distance pining and phone conversations and flirting that turns into phone sex, and the slow burn between people who want to be together but life gets in the way. And Mark is SO MARK. And T.J. thinks things like: "...He’s going to say yes, of course he is, but they wouldn’t be them if he just came out and said it." It's gorgeous and I hope it heralds more for this pairing, they're so perfect together.
I need to go, I've got an appointment with a plate of leftovers and some more Yulefic to catch up on. Love you guys! ♥ ♥
