Lol. I remember that year so clearly! I was definitely making "retro" a joke because I feel like such a dinosaur, seeing as I was old enough to go to the cinema to see the original Star Wars trilogy :D
I don't remember whether I saw A New Hope at the movies but I definitely remember seeing Empire Strikes Back with my dad, it was a huge experience. Luke was my first movie star crush! lollll <3
The only way to be safe from spoilers is that sort of ban/seclusion/hermitting. I think (think) that of the tumblrs I follow that care about MCU, they would all refrain from massive in your-face uncut spoilers, or at least I hope so. What breaks my brain a bit is the sheer amount of fanworks this will make uncanonical - I mean not that it matters at all, but I keep thinking of the sheer volume of people who've imagined how 'Steve and Bucky reunite!' goes and how in fan land they can all be true, and then the movie happens? Or something? *weird fanphysics meta thoughts*
I do know I am probably going to have to see this movie twice (like with Star Wars) once to be braced in every sinew for what might happen and the second time (hopefully) to actually relax and enjoy the damn story. Splodey things go boom. etc
ASDFGHBJK YES TO ALL. I'm staying off tumblr because if I don't my emotions will strangle me. I can't keep seeing new BTS and sneaky extra scene drops, I want to see the whole thing properly not some of it in tiny pieces. I've never been good with spoilers when it's something I'm really invested in.
Idk about the canonical thing - I mean, people are still writing CAtFA fic, you know? They're going to continue writing different reunion scenarios regardless.
I have a ticket for the 28th, and another for the 30th. It's going to be one of those movies, for sure. I AM SO FUCKING ANXIOUS.
Oh yeah, I think (and hope!) people will continue to create and enjoy their own scenarios, as I say it's more a meta thing like... I dunno I guess I've just not been involved, at an on-the-ground fandom level before, with something where so many many fans have told the story their way, and now here comes canon to try and do the same... I think I'm still bowled over by the sheer scale of the Marvel project with these movies, like the level of 'and another part of the story' one expects from a TV mini-series but on a movie scale. *mind boggles*

I've been feeling the retro lately (WHAT, 2000 was a great year!)
Ha! That made me smile =) Having the year 2000 and retro in the same sentence, sweet. Not true, but sweet! Still smiling =)
