Ratings?

Has anyone heard any news on how the show is doing in the ratings? I read a disturbing entry on tvbythenumbers.com where they predict Alcatraz (along with Fringe) as likely cancellations due to fading ratings. I've really started to enjoy this series and it's not unusual for FOX to pull a sci-fi show before it can find its feet. I don't want it ( Read more... )

That sounds like the fate of "Firefly." Maybe "Alcatraz" could find life after death, too.

I'd like to hope so. Southland moved to another network entirely and it's been doing well. I've seen so many people complaining that we hear about "they" and no one's said anything about who "they" are. Uh, have they watched any of the shows Abrams has produced over the years? Alias? LOST? Fringe? THERE ARE ALWAYS MYSTERIES! Had to stop reading the comments at the website - haters get me down.

I really like "Southland." Whenever Cooper is out there being heroic, I wonder if the pins will hold up. When I saw that Lucy Liu was his new partner, I was pumped. But she seems totally focused on the lunch truck, so I have my doubts. I'll wait and see.

I hope they bring back Lou Diamond Phillips as Ferguson. He's an SOB, but he's dedicated. He intentionally drew the fire of the "Wednesday" Shooter, to give the others a clear shot at the guy. That was a bravest--and most foolish--thing I've seen on Southland.

I dunno. It was really disappointing they canceled Firefly and I didn't even watch until it was off the air. After watching what few eps they had I was really disappointed not to have more. Same with Carnivale! But according to this article, it is 'likely to be canceled'. :( http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/02/21/bubble-watch-fox/120726/

Last episode of Alcatraz was 6 million viewers/1.8 in the ratings. Very low. Chances are probably not good, Fox being what it is (stupid and short-sighted), that this show is going to make it unless they have nothing else to air. I have found it hard to watch Alcatraz as I missed an episode and had to wait 8 days to get it on the website, so didn't watch the new one because I don't want to watch them out of order. I'm 2 eps behind now, and with news of possible cancellation it feels hard to bother trying to get caught up if we're just going to lose it. Fox's 8 day thing is another brilliant move on the part of the company, is likely another reason the show will not have the support it could otherwise have generated, sadly.

As for Fringe, if they would quit dinking around and give us back Peter and the original Olivia in the orignal universe with a guarantee that it was going to stay that way, the ratings would jump back up where they belong. Those are the people I signed on for and the ones I want to be watching.

They wait over a WEEK to post the new eps to the website? WTF? I saw a chart which added in the DVR numbers and the ratings for the show almost doubled. Maybe if it had a better lead-in than House? Pair it up with Touch when that show starts in March? Makes more sense.

Yeah, I'm in agreement with you on Fringe. A lot of people have stopped watching because of this It's A Wonderful Life backdrop. I thought it might last a few eps, but this has eaten up almost the whole season. The only solace I can take is, there's new we might get 13 - 15 eps for a fifth season.

All of my hardcore friends are so unhappy with this season. The only plus out of it is, we've learned a LOT about Astrid's character. We've discovered more about her character in fifteen eps than we did in three years!

But there was news from Matt Roush (I think it was) that FOX's programming president is a HUGE fan of the show and is interested in giving it a 13 to 15 ep fifth season.

Unfortunately, it's on the list for "likely canceled". :(

Okay, that's the article you mentioned. Anyway, yeah, it sucks.

It figures. I wasn't sure about this show and excited for Grimm. Grimm was so painful (outside of Monroe) and boring to watch, I gave up after six episodes. And they get a full season and talk of a second. While Alcatraz surprised me with a great cast, instantly intriguing main plot, great guest stars and it's in "likely cancellation" zone. FIGURES.

I actually really love Grimmm, but I'd also hate to see Alcatraz canceled. Ugh!

I just couldn't deal with what a horrible actor the lead is. Everyone else seemed good enough, Monroe was the only reason I kept tuning in after episode two. At least I managed further on Grimm than Once Upon A Time. I BARELY finished the pilot of that one!
