I've decided to do a mission101 list for fitness related goals.

Note: This entry is public/not-filtered. It is possible that it may be triggering. If you've opted out of my fitness filter, you should not click on the cut.

The due date is March 8, 2013

Best of luck achieving your goals!

I recently started interval training to learn to run and have gone from not being able to run to the end of the road, to being able to run 3 sets of 10 minutes! It's taken only 8 weeks - it's definitely worth sticking at it!

Well done for what you've achieved so far too :)

Thank you very much.

Interval training terrifies me. I've tried it once or twice and it nearly killed me.

For me, interval training typically hurts but usually doesn't feel like it's going to kill me (though I have overdone it a handful of times and felt like throwing up at the end -- but I haven't actually upchucked yet). Maybe try shorter intervals or backing off the intensity a bit.

Intervals are great IMHO. More and more research is showing its benefits for fat loss, improved endurance and all in less time that steady state cardio.

No exercise should be done at an intensity that you feel ill. A common mistake is that people do not slow down enough on their rest phase thinking that if they work a bit harder they will get better results. That is self defeating. I currently go from track sprints (80 to 90 % of my max) to a fast walk (30 %) when doing intervals so I get enough rest and good results.

you're doing better than i've been doing, lately. the hotter it gets, the less i want to move from my bed. thumbs up to you!

also, this may be a naive question, but you put this as a cut because it might be 'triggering' to some.... but what exactly do you mean by that? i understand some risque topics could be triggering to someone who has experienced abuse, but fitness and weight loss? i don't get it.

Triggering in this context is in relation to eating disorders. The idea of equating weight loss with a good thing can trigger, for some people, feelings of self-hatred or other eating disorder related problems.

Cool fitness goals. I think I'll work on trying to achieve some of those yoga poses.

That looks like some very good goals. You will run into a situation where you weight will drop below your bench etc. so you will probably have to reset those goals but that will be a good thing.

BTW how tall are you and how old? I assume that you are a man judging by the picture. You will be able to do a dip and a pull-up, many in fact if you achieve these targets. I hope you have added in back exercises such as pull-ups, inverted rows, lat pull-ups etc. to balance off the bench presses.

Do you have a plan to change your nutrition to get rid of the body fat and mass? I have had great success with intermittent fasting (Eat Stop Eat) while getting lean and strong with Turbulence Training (Google it and also check out videos on You Tube under 'cbathletics'.)
I trust you have taken 'before' pictures and measurements so you can look back at the progress that you have made six months from now.
Good luck with your goals.

I appreciate the comment. I feel pretty good about the goals.

I'm 5'7 and 33 years old.

In terms of back exercises I do pull-downs 1x per week and bent over rows 1-2 x per week (my current workout is in flux).

I've made a lot of changes to my nutrition (I've already lost 60+ lbs.). I read leangains.com (intermittant fasting) on my google reader. I also have the turbulence training blog on it. Although right now I do neither.

I did not take 'before' pictures, but I did have some general pictures. I also have some mid-way pictures.

Thanks!

Good to know.

Wow 60 lbs! That is impressive. Continue that success and you will hit all of your goals.

I also read Leangains. His approach is different than Eat Stop Eat which has 24 hour fasts. Both work. Different approaches gives variety and options to live.
