The problem I have with those things is that what I want to know about my prospective LJ friends is not their biographical data or how often they update but WHAT they write about and none of the friending frenzies seem to actually cover that information. I wish the people with friends-only journals would unlock a few representative entries or something.

Hi. I'm Kate, a friend of Annie's. I don't follow instructions well, which is why I'm posting here that I'd like to be your lj friend, instead of telling you over on your other friend's journal. I like what you say in Annie's journal, and now I'm using this entry as a reason to add you. I'm 34, a high school English teacher living in Eugene, Oregon. I grew up in Arizona. I have a dog (we just got him last week) named Omar and a cat named Jeff, and I live with my manfriend Jesse in a house we share with my friend and co-worker Aura and her dog and cat and sometimes her kids. They're Jewish; I'm not. Aura's kids are African American. I'm white and a bit of a fatty. We have a serf, a homeless dude named Don who lives in a tent in the front yard. Don takes out the trash and recycling and does most of the gardening. He has a friend named Zalman who is most likely schizophrenic.
