For a few years it seems like people have been complaining about how dead LJ seems. My solution has been to find new people. It doesn't always work, but sometimes it works spectacularly. Most of them I find through friending memes, like the one below. If you need to shake things up, consider playing.

I know, I've been back here sporadically for some time, and in checking various old friend's journals out, I often see the last post being "I'm back!!" and then nothing, and I do wonder if it's because once they logged in, and cleared up and posted, they went to check out their friend's page and saw it quite empty.
