Last week I finished my semester progress report on the ARES project. I was satisfied with my progress, though I'm beginning to think I would have been better off spending this summer here to continue my work. I really have a good sense of this project, and since my camera system came in yesterday, I've renewed faith in my capabilities

I know there is some pretty good Open Source engineering software out there. I don't have a fucking clue if it'll work for what you want, but you might try searching http://sourceforge.net for whatever you need.

It'll surprise you what people are making/have made.

You also might want to take a look at http://www.gnu.org

There's a metric fuckload of good, legal, and free software if you know where to look.
